SHAUN KIRK

Fri 23rd March 8:30pm

Following the recent success of his Australian ‘Midnight in Motion’ Tour which saw award winning blues/soul troubadour Shaun Kirk selling out numerous headline shows across the country; the one man dynamo has announced a stack of new tour dates across Australia & New Zealand to launch his soon to be released new single ‘Howlin at the Moon’.

Kirk’s first release in over 3 years will come off the back of what the 29 year old describes as a “quarter-life crisis” ignited by a US Record Deal that fell through in questionable circumstances back in 2015. Determined to overcome his disappointment and grow from it, Kirk has since spent countless hours soul searching and honing his skills as a writer and musician inside his home studio on the outskirts of Melbourne; prevailing with a fresh new sound and groove to carry him into the next phase of his ever evolving career.

Recorded and co-produced with Nick Huggins (Jen Cloher, Fraser A Gorman, Skipping Girl Vinegar) at A Pocket Full of Stones Studios in the sleepy beachside town of Point Lonsdale, Victoria and co written with ARIA Award Winner Joel Quatermain (Eskimo Joe) – ‘Howlin at the Moon’ is set to drop in early 2018.

LUKE SINCLAIR & SEAN MCMAHON

Sat 17th March 8:30pm

Luke Sinclair is an artist of integrity and a generosity of spirit. He continues to forge a well-respected name for himself across Melbourne's musical landscape, first through his work with alt-country trail-blazers The Idle Hoes, and now with nationally acclaimed Americana outfit, Raised By Eagles.

"In just a couple of years Raised by Eagles, fronted by chief songwriter Luke Sinclair, have delivered two of the finest alt-country albums you'll find in many, many miles. In the great tradition of long-established bands like Wilco, but in a fraction of the time...  Martin Boulton, The Age

Exceptional songwriting is what has always stood out first and foremost for Melbourne artist Sean McMahon.  Across a handful of albums to date, he has honed a sound all his own.  His melodic and poetic style of songwriting is loaded with confessional narratives and vivid storytelling that explore and exploit familiar themes, however it's his ability to craft a song and his warm, rich and honest vocals that set him apart.

"Sean McMahon continues his run of world class albums with his latest outfit the MoonMen.  Over the past decade he has been responsible for delivering some of the tastiest guitar playing and songwriting around. McMahon's tone and touch are always exquisit." - Rhythms Magazine

NEW CANDYS (Fuzz Club Records)

Venice, Italy based alternative rock band New Candys announce their first Australian Tour. It will take place after their fourth European tour and before their first US Tour. New Candys formed in 2008 and gained buzz through playing European festivals like The Secret Garden Party 2015 and Liverpool Psych Fest 2016. They recently landed some major syncs for their songs "Aphrodite In Leather", "Excess" and "Bleeding Magenta" on episodes of Showtime's hit show Shameless. Their influences have roots in The Velvet Underground and Syd Barrett. After a self-produced EP, in 2012 they released the album “Stars Reach The Abyss” on Foolica, a UK tour followed. In 2015 they took part in “The Reverb Conspiracy”, compilation curated by Fuzz Club/The Reverberation Appreciation Society (Levitation Austin). Later that year “New Candys As Medicine”, album mixed by John Wills (producer and drummer of Loop), has been released on both Picture In My Ear/Fuzz Club and added to The Committee To Keep Music Evil catalogue, receiving praises from Simone Marie Butler of Primal Scream and Stephen Lawrie of The Telescopes. New Candys produced their latest record "Bleeding Magenta" by themselves, mastered by Grammy Award winner Giovanni Versari, released on Fuzz Club in October 2017. New Candys have shared the stage with rock notables like The Warlocks, Dead Skeletons, The Vaccines, Slowdive, Savages and Jon Spencer Blues Explosion among others.

"Mixing brooding psychedelia with post-punk stylings, the record captures the full intensity of their live show with devastating results." - Drowned In Sound

"New Candys sound like something between The Stooges and The Jesus And Mary Chain. Super wild and super cool." - Primal Scream’s Simone Marie Butler

"Sounding like a mix of Tame Impala and Temples if they were to cross over to the dark side." - Orange Amplification

"The insistence of Oasis meets the mystical early Pink Floyd." - Jon Astley

HARRY JAKAMARRA

Sat 24th Feb 8:30pm

Special guest Elwood Gray

Harry Jakamarra has a voice that stops you dead in your tracks. A punchy, Springsteen-esque growl that's imbued with the rugged texture of the West Australian desert where he grew up.

Harry's songs are truly Australian . . . just like 'Wake in Fright'. A Kimberley Cowboy turned Mad Max, Harry tours in a vegie oil powered fire engine he converted to a house. He tears the roof off Pilbara pubs and southern sit-down gigs alike with his dry Guitar picking and dark, twisted lyrics.

"And then Harry Jakamarra... just blew me away the first time I met him. He's kind of a genius. He's a bit of a multi-instrumentalist and can play the shit out of the guitar as well as having the amazing, gravelly, Bruce Springsteen-y kind of a voice. I think people are going to love him." - Missy Higgins ('The Music' magazine, 25/10/2017)

THE AHERN BROTHERS

Sat Feb 10th 8:30pm

It’s been a phenomenal six months for The Ahern Brothers (Josh Rennie-Hynes & Steve Grady). Following an incredible response to their debut album release in June, the duo have toured without rest throughout Australia and New Zealand, selling out a string of shows as well as spending over a month on the road with Australian music legends Tex, Don & Charlie. Today they announce their final tour as The Ahern Brothers for the foreseeable future, with both artists taking time off in 2018 to work on their new solo albums. The ‘Until Next Time’ tour is their biggest run of headline shows to date, taking in beautiful and unique venues across the country. They will also be making appearances at some of Australia’s most iconic festivals, kicking off the tour at the Cygnet Folk Festival in Tasmania in January, before wrapping it up at the Nannup Music Festival in WA and the Port Fairy Folk Festival in Victoria in early March. For the first time ever The Ahern Brothers will be taking a full band on the road, promising a bigger show while still maintaining the striking harmonies and ‘careworn acoustic guitars’ (Rolling Stone, July ‘17) that the duo are best known for. Early bird tickets are on sale now for all shows until Friday 1 December, with all early bird ticket holders in the running to win a massive merch pack including The Ahern Brothers signed album on vinyl and CD, a limited edition baseball tee and an A0 signed poster.

VAN WALKER

Sat 27th Jan 8:30pm

Born & raised on the windswept prairies of north-west coast Tasmania, between lashings of hallucinogenic cheese & Magic Johnson, weened on William Blake & Ribald magazine, Van first heard the music of Bob Dylan around adolescence & began picking guitar & writing songs. Some hundreds of songs later and a hell-bent pick, he moved to Melbourne to form the rock’n’roll outfit The Swedish Magazines, and sing his unique hillbilly stuff on the side.

Drawing on the grand storytelling tradition of artists such as Ray Davies, Townes Van Zandt, Leon Payne & John Prine, & the acoustic finger-styles of John Fahey &  Mississippi John Hurt, Van creates a sound both old & new, with a laconic familiarity that speaks to the heart with an intimacy more effortless than contrived.
