AL MATCOTT and STEEL WHEELS

Fri 1st Dec 8:30pm

Join Al Matcott and Steel Wheels for the launch of Al Matcott’s new album Summer’s Coming (Cheersquad Record). Formerly a drummer, guitarist and singer in a number of bands including Euphoriacs, Honey Badgers and Buried Feather, Al Matcott made his solo debut in 2021 with the release of the four-track EP You Can Be Anyone and quickly followed with a string of singles in 2022 including ‘Crystal Ball’ and ‘Sophia’. His releases have seen swift support from CLASH, The Indie Scene, Radio X (UK), Triple R, PBS, Double J, Pilerats and many others, all praising his strong storytelling and delicate balance of the dark and the light across expertly written songs. His freshly released album 'Summer's Coming' (produced by Wade Kierghan) showcases a blistering rhythms section and caterwauling guitars. It's a journey of an album, one that takes Matcott's songwriting to scorching new heights.

Steel Wheels is an anachronistic project in the age of isolation and the bedroom producer: an oversized outfit that pumps out rock with an unmistakable country tinge. There’s no doubt it goes against the grain — but it’s all the better for it.

It takes all seven members of Steel Wheels to produce their signature sound. The saxophone and keys play melodies fresh and pretty, with harmonies by four singers backed by plenty of guitar and drums to keep it gritty.

The band was born in 2020 with the release of their first two singles 'Tied Up' and 'Standing Still'. Steel Wheels are country enough without any of the gimmicks, but rock and roll enough to slide their way into any associated scene and stand on their own.

Though Steel Wheels formed only last year, the Melbourne band has a chiselled sound that hints at years of being honed on the road. And when this seven-piece machine roars into life in Alexander, their third single, it produces elemental melodies that simply can’t be denied

SEVENTH CIRCLE & JUNKYARD WIZARDS

Sat 28th Oct 8:30pm

We are “The Seventh Circle”. We are a four piece Grunge-Metal band.

The members of this dynamic quad include Red Brazil (vocals), Lachie Hyatt (Drums), Sam Seric (Bass Guitar) and Billy Barclay (Lead Guitar).

As a band our main influences are Nirvana & Black Sabbath. Over the past year we have been working on our first studio EP “REJECT”. consisting of 4 tracks. “Psycho”, “SMOTHER”, “Set it on fire” & “Torn”. Which we will be recording and releasing very soon!  We continue through our playing whether it be covers or originals to be very tight and well coordinated making us a good brotherhood of musicians, coming from all different types of musical backgrounds.

Our goal and sound as a band is made of heavy running drums and loud distorted riffs. We like to reach out to those wanting to move and truly capture once again that heavy sound of the 90s.

LEAH SENIOR

Sat 2nd Sept 8:30pm

Australian-based folk diviner Leah Senior silences audiences with vivid lyricism and a voice that soars with a disarmingly honest Sandy Denny-like clarity. Quietly revered as a master songwriter, she effortlessly weaves together spring-time baroque pop playfulness with a fragile blend of bedroom folk. Her fourth album The Music That I Make (2023, Poison City Records) reveals Leah at her most intimate, her songs a cycle of vulnerable meditations on what it means to create. The Music That I Make transports the listener to her sandstone shack in Anglesea, where autumnal British folk meets late night AM radio.

Leah Senior’s unique style has attracted not only those in the folk world but the likes of many others including the infamous psych rockers King Gizzard and The Lizard Wizard, Jeff Tweedy, Calexico, Jessica Pratt and more. Enjoy this moment of wisdom and lyrical wit through crisply picked songs, old world folk dipping into psychedelia.
