SUNFRUITS

Fri 19th May 8:30pm

Sunfruits are pleased to announce their biggest Australian tour yet in support of their forthcoming debut album, One Degree. In high anticipation ever since the Melbourne/Naarm band released their Certified Organic EP in 2020, the album sees their most mature and conceptual songwriting to date. As heard in recent singles ‘End Of The World’, ‘Believe It All’ and ‘Made To Love’, the album showcases Sunfruits’ incredible talents in writing memorable psychedelic pop songs and their desire to use their music for good. The album is filled with anthemic choruses, melodic psychedelia, harmonious ballads and danceable indie pop, interplaying with potent lyrical messages of hope and despair. Through the album’s 11 tracks the band explore environmental collapse, resilience, self-reflection, love and relationships, all textured with a coming-of-age feel.

“Taking on environmental anxiety, self-reliance and resilience, and, above all, escapist love, Sunfruits upcoming record should be just as deliciously joyful and thoughtful as their new single." — Rolling Stone AU/NZ

The 5 piece band will be performing the new album with 8 shows across the east coast of so called Australia including their first time in Kyneton at Major Toms on May 19th.

Joining Sunfruits at Major Toms will be post-punks Property.

THE PINK STONES - Cancelled

THE PINK STONES - Cancelled

It is with great sadness, due to immigration issues, The Pink Stones are unable to depart their home state of Georgia, USA for travel next week to play Boogie festivals and headline shows around the country. The band will definitely be touring Australia this year at some point, and we look forward to them being their unique style some time down the line. Apologies for any hassle this has caused ticket buyers, and expect a refund from the relevant ticketing agency as soon as they can. Keep believing in great music.”

Sat 8th April 8:30pm

Introducing The Pink Stones: a full serving of Peach State picked country-rockers from Athens, Georgia. Exactly two years to the day since the band released their classic cosmic country album, Introducing…The Pink Stones (Normaltown Records), the lads will be heading down under for their debut Australian tour, ready to wow audiences with a new chapter in the annals of Cosmic American Music.

With a show filled with raucous rock’n’roll, humour and heartaches, The Pink Stones were first inspired by The Lemonheads’ version of Brass Buttons, only to realise that their young ears were touching the surface of the catalogue of the late great Gram Parsons. And it was from this moment, the then-college students decided they liked country music. Big time.

The debut album is a classic hat trick of country music and the end result is a fresh and exciting LP from a great band.

The Pink Stones will be here in April, straight after they make waves at SXSW in Austin, Texas in March.

“The Pink Stones, a six-piece outfit creating some of the most shimmering, melancholic Southern rock in years… Introducing doesn’t just tell us who The Pink Stones are, it gets us tickled for what they’ll do next.” – No Depression

“Athens Georgia, the college town that introduced R.E.M., The Drive-By Truckers, and the B-52s to the world has once again produced an exciting rising new band.”Under the Radar

“The Pink Stones reinvigorate cosmic country…” – PopMatters

“Given this fine introduction, The Pink Stones would seem to have a promising future before them. Gram would certainly approve.” 4 out of 5 Stars – American Songwriter

BLUE MOON MARQUEE

Fri 24th March 8:30pm

Blue Moon Marquee perform original compositions influenced by anything that swings, jumps or grooves. A.W. Cardinal, a Metis of Cree heritage (vocals/guitar) and Jasmine Colette a.k.a. Badlands Jass (vocals/bass/drums) have played everywhere from jazz clubs, Lindy Hop dance halls, folk venues, blues haunts, hospitals, prisons, motorcycle joints, dive bars and festival stages.

The result of 9 years of rigorous crisscrossing Europe and North America is a distinct energy & style from this acclaimed duo. Carving a path through blues, jazz, jump jive, folk, country, swing and Indigenous soul with an authentic spirit, their sound does not idle easily in one certain category. It stomps and struts through the wilds, conjuring a blend where Howlin’ Wolf tangos with Django, Ernest Tubb shoots firecrackers with Cab Calloway, and Memphis Minnie throws dice with Screamin’ Jay Hawkins.

Colette not only commands the upright bass but also brings the rhythm with her feet on a custom foot drum kit, all while singing in her signature honey-dipped tone. Cardinal’s distinctive and soulful vocals barrel out like a raging bull while his guitar crackles with the swinging energy of jazz-tinged blues.

PARTY DOZEN

Sun 19th Feb 2:30pm

Sydney duo Party Dozen are delighted to swing by Kyneton for an exclusive Victorian headline show; their last before March's debut US tour.

The group had a packed 2022 which included a 7" on seminal label Sub Pop, a RRR Album of the Week The Real Work, which featured guest vocals from Nick Cave and has just been announced in the final nine for the Australian Music Prize, two European tours, an Australian run with Tropical Fuck Storm and a remix collaboration with Harvey Sutherland.

The group, saxophonist Kirsty Tickle and drummer Jonathan Boulet, are one of the best live bands in the country, performing with blistering intensity whether supporting The Bad Seeds in a huge park in London or playing Kyneton on a Sunday afternoon. Somewhere between hardcore punk, free jazz, doom and industrial, the semi-improvised show isn't going to be like anything you've seen in the Ranges before.

EMILY BARKER

Fri 10th Feb 8:30pm

Emily Barker is an award-winning singer-songwriter, best known as the writer and performer of the theme  to the BBC’s hugely successful crime drama Wallander starring Kenneth Branagh. She has released music  as a solo artist as well as with various bands and collaborations including The Red Clay Halo, Frank  Turner, Vena Portae, Marry Waterson and Applewood Road (with whom she released a remarkable album  of original songs recorded live around a single microphone, dubbed “flawless” by The Sunday Times) and  has written for film, including composing the soundtrack for Jake Gavin’s lauded debut  feature Hector starring Peter Mullan and Keith Allen.

Emily Barker’s latest album A Dark Murmuration of Words was produced by Greg Freeman and recorded  at StudiOwz, a converted chapel in the Welsh countryside. Lyrically probing, by turns both dark and  optimistic, Barker searches for meaning through the deafening clamour of fake news and algorithmically  filtered conversation, delivering a timely exploration of the grand themes of our age through the lens of  what it means to return “home.” Throughout the ten songs that make up the album, Barker draws  connections between the familial, the local, and the global: a mother sings to her unborn child, asking for its  forgiveness on ‘Strange Weather’; ‘When Stars Cannot Be Found’ explores the humbleness and comfort of  the night sky when far away from home. Other highlights include the nostalgic ‘Return Me’, ‘The Woman  Who Planted Trees’, the gloriously defiant ‘Machine’ and the effortless album closer ‘Sonogram’.

On its release, A Dark Murmuration of Words hit number 1 on the Official Americana Album chart in the  UK and has garnered widespread acclaim.

“irresistibly catchy…an album replete with nooks and crannies, light and shade” The Australian ★★★★★ “an album of spare, striking beauty” Mojo ★★★★

“…a kind of Australian equivalent of PJ Harvey’s Let England Shake” UNCUT 8/10 “bold, direct, uncompromising” CLASH

“One of the most literate and probing folk albums of the year. I really love it.” Ann Powers, NPR Music

Delivery Album Tour - Back to Back Sundays in Kyneton w/ Our Carlson + Eggy

As part of the Victorian tour to celebrate the release of their debut album 'Forever Giving Handshakes’, Melbourne garage-punk crew Delivery are making a couple of stops in Kyneton (they couldn’t resist)! Two Sundays back to back at Major Toms, joined by Our Carlson on Jan 8th and Eggy on Jan 15th. Come down for some afternoon rock ’n’ roll.

Out through Spoilsport Records, Feel It Records and Anti Fade Records, 'Forever Giving Handshakes' captures Delivery at full force for the first time, leaning into the fully-enhanced live sound they’ve been actively working towards since first show in March 2021 and cementing themselves as one of the hardest and fastest working bands in town. Written over the Melbourne five-piece’s two year lifespan, ‘Forever Giving Handshakes’ is something of a garage-punk opus, the group’s five distinct voices simultaneously pulling songs in different directions while an undeniable chemistry reveals a combined hive mind ascending on a clear group mission... to rock.
