THE STETSON FAMILY & JAMES KENYON

The Stetson Family & James Kenyon Aug 22nd Doors 8:30pm

It's been two years coming, making it's way through hell and high water, and now The Stetson Family are thrilled to be launching their third album, True North.

True North is bluegrassy with more than a hint of down-home Americana and is full of all the things we've come to expect from the Stetsons, lots of harmonies and tales of murder, mayhem and the human heart.

Joining them on this album are 'extended family' members, Suzannah Espie and Liz Stringer on a BV or two, Nick O'Mara bringing home some steel guitar, Gleny Rae's awesome fiddlin' and Bree Hartley adding some percussion to the mix.

Come along to Major Toms on Saturday 22nd August and help us celebrate - look to the stars and head True North!

James Kenyon was born and raised in South Australia, but now lives in sunny Melbourne. Self-described as alt-country folk-grass indie heat-haze dream scape am radio highway songs.

We're gonna need a bigger stage!!
“Cyrus Pilko’s showmanship as the band’s energetic frontman is completely contagious. With a rustic flair and familiarly pleasant Aussie lilt, Pilko demands the audience’s attention with his tight jeans, booming vocals and theatrics. The Binrats clearly love performing, wielding instruments from the double bass and the banjo to the sax and trombone, switching and swapping frequently.” – Stephanie Tell, The Music.

HOWQUA with MIKE WATERS

Howqua - July 4th doors 8:30pm

RELEASES SINGLE ‘HER’ AND ANNOUNCES FIRST AUSTRALIAN SOLO HEADLINE TOUR

Special Guest Mike Waters

“Trust us: this is an artist on the rise, and it’d be percipient to hop on-board while he’s still in easy reach.” TheMusic

Melbourne artist HOWQUA announces his first run of Australian shows for his debut headline tour, in support of his new single ‘Her’. Having just returned from a successful international trip to Canadian Music Week, where HOWQUA was signed to The Agency Group for North American bookings, he now embarks on a run of shows along the East Coast this June and July.

Co-produced by Hayden Calnin and mixed by Tim Carr, ‘Her’ is taken from HOWQUA’s debut EP Naked that was released independently in AU/NZ at the end of 2014. The EP was handpicked by Spotify and added to the ‘New Releases’ section, helping HOWQUA sell out his first hometown headline show in pre-sales.

"’Her’ was initially inspired by my little sister. But it became a track about the good female souls in my life” explains HOWQUA.

With a list of supports slots that include the likes of Midlake (US), Little May (AU) and SOAK (UK), HOWQUA’s fanbase is growing rapidly, and amongst those, now six time Grammy Award winning producer Steve Lillywhite (U2, The Rolling Stones) can be counted as one. In a recent interview between Lillywhite and APRA in the lead up to Vivid Sydney, Lillywhite stated HOWQUA is one to watch when asked if any Australian artists are catching his eye at the moment.

“HOWQUA, a Melbourne songwriter, is one to watch. He’s just returned from performing at Canadian Music Week, and his single ‘Fishing for Gold’ is great. This was mixed at Studios 301 where I will be as part of the VIVID LIVE forums early in June.”
Steve Lillywhite

Don’t miss your chance to see HOWQUA before he heads back to North America later in the year.
