Amaya Laucirica

Sat 11th Oct 8pm

Melbourne based singer/songwriter Amaya Laucirica will be playing her highly anticipated fifth album ‘The Blue Hour’ on Saturday October 11th at Major Toms. Described as “gorgeous classic songwriting in the Forster/McLennan mould” by Alan Brough (Spicks and Specks), the night will showcase Laucirica’s world-class band with Mat Watson (Mat Watson/Underground Lovers Moda Discoteca) on drums and Matt Sigley (Underground Lovers/The Lovetones) plus special guests.

The Blue Hour is Laucirica’s compelling meditation on the nuances of motherhood, identity, acceptance and connection. All of which comes together on its centrepiece single, ‘Now or Never’ – a sonic articulation of the moment when the sun breaks the blue morning light and the world becomes clear again.

“It’s about inhabiting an optimistic landscape. One that looks brightly towards the future and appreciates its past as well.”

Described as a “a thoughtfully crafted, emotionally rich release that further solidifies Laucirica’s place among Australia’s most affecting songwriters” by The Music Files, Amaya and her band are sure to prove that this will be a show not to be missed!

"Now or Never is a testament to her evolution—delicate yet powerful, melancholic yet hopeful. Laucirica has once again reminded us why she remains a vital force in Australia’s music landscape”.  Crush Cop

THE LATE ENTRANTS

THE LATE ENTRANTS

Fri 1st Aug 8:30pm

A late-bloomer singer-songwriter superband forged in the cultural hotbeds of Malmsbury and Drummond, this genre-bending group dabbles fearlessly in indie folk, rock, and electronic sounds, using these genre ideas to create something indescribable by the group but accidentally memorable to those that bear witness.

Led by Chris Hudson on vocals, keys and guitar and Josh Ellis on vocals and guitar (both known locally as “who’s that guy?”), the band’s lineup is rounded out by the groove styling Steve Myers on bass and human metronome Damien Fletcher on drums.

The Late Entrants, born from finding spare time, backyard jams, and the universal small-town belief that “you should be heard by more than you neighbours,” The group brings heartfelt lyrics, layered instrumentation and the unshakable energy of four blokes who finally figured out what they wanted to be when they grew up.

The show will also feature special guest and local legend Jared Brentnall. Jared is a Melbourne based producer, composer and multi-instrumentalist who combines a multitude of influences and his love of songwriting into something diverse, thought-provoking and sonically rich. Jared has been heavily involved in the Melbourne music scene for over 15 years, playing in instrumental post-rock, progressive, contemporary rock, indie and alternative bands.
