The Flynn Band

Sat 22nd Feb 8:30pm Special guest Finn Farrell

It's been over 20 years since Dan Flynn launched into the Australian music scene with a string of well received folk albums under moniker Major Chord. That solo flavour gave way to greater collaborations and sonic experimentation as Dan released more albums under his own name, the most recent being 2020's 'Welcome to the Making of the World', produced by Greg Walker (Paul Kelly, CW Stoneking).

While Dan's output slowed as life got busy, something unexpected and rather remarkable happened - his older son Bas picked up the bass guitar and his younger son Euca took up the drums, so before long an entirely new musical organism was born - The Flynn Band!

"Dan Flynn remains one of Australian music's great quiet achievers, an earnest folkie with genuine pop smarts", Jeff Jenkins (ABC, 3RRR)

Relays

Fri 10th Jan 8:30pm

Special guests W.O.M.B.A.T

Relays, a punk band hailing from Bendigo on DJAARA country, have finally released their highly anticipated self-titled debut album.

Known for their unapologetically abrasive sound and non-politically correct lyrics, Relays offer a gritty take on the realities of middle to low-income Australia.

The album features a collection of hard-hitting tracks, including the standout “No One Fu#ks Me Like The ATO,” a scathing commentary on the frustration of paying taxes to a government entity that feels increasingly out of touch. Another notable track, “Eshay,” captures the tension of feeling unsafe at suburban train stations, taking aim at the invasive ‘Eshay’ subculture infiltrating modern suburbia.

The debut album was recorded live to two-inch tape at Head Gap Studio in Preston, with producer Shann Lions insisting on a ‘no bullsh#t overdubs’ approach. “Punk shouldn’t be too polished,” Lions stated, and this ethos is evident throughout the unfiltered sound of the album.

Billy Barker/ Anna Schneider/ Claudia Joy/ Jack Davies

Sun 15th Dec 2pm TICKETS

Acclaimed West Australian songwriters Jack Davies and Anna Schneider will be joining forces with the heart wrenching ballads of Billy Barker(VIC) and Claudie Joy(TAS/WA), for a collaborative tour along the fringes of Victoria. This will be an intimate evening of songs, stories and warmly coloured lamps.

Details...

- (AFTERNOON SHOW) 2pm entry. Finished by approx 5pm.

Performers...

Jack Davies
Following the release of Jack’s debut solo album “Orange Moon Glow”, a collection of heartwrenching, and sometimes witty ballads, the West Australian folk singer will be touring back across the country. Playing a string of intimate acoustic shows, showcasing new songs, poems and loosely strung together sentences. Well known for his band "Jack Davies and The Bush Chooks", the group have toured extensively across Australia. Be sure not to miss his unique blend of spoken word, folk picking, sad singing and indi acoustic weirdery.

Claudie Joy
Taking inspiration from beloved storytellers such as Haley Heynderickx and Adrianne Lenker, Claudie paints together thoughtful words and poignant guitar into the delightful mess of sincerity, honesty and obscurity that has seen her charm audiences across the country. After selling out a string of shows in WA with her 7 piece group "Claudie Joy & the Joy Boys", and releasing their debut EP, Claudie made the move to TAS to pursue new opportunities, bringing with her a finely woven blanket of songs. Musical moments that reach in deep to the ever so tender parts of our lives.

Anna Schneider
As her first note floats out into the air, hair on the backs of necks rise and chatter simmers to stunned silence; Walyalup singer-songwriter Anna Schneider has you pulled in, and as she plays on, you’ll want to be nowhere else. The earnest elegance of Anna’s songwriting, which slips between folk and indie with alt-country touchstones, appears tantalizingly effortless, true, and endearingly demanding of your attention. Wrapping up 2023 with two industry nominations for ‘Best Vocalist’ and ‘Best Folk/Singer-Songwriter act’ at the WAM awards and a premiere for her music videoCrush’ on ABC’s rage, Anna’s latest single ‘Shiny Thing’, has cemented Anna as a true vocal rarity and an artist to be entranced by.

Billy Barker
With a sound that lands somewhere between Gareth Liddiard and Jeff Buckley, Billy Barkers live show can leave you feeling amused, pissed off and heartbroken within the same pint of beer. With a crowd grabbing presence, Alt-folk singer-songwriter Billy Barker takes audiences down that wondrous and gritty road of everyday life. Over the last five years Billy has repeatedly filled popular Melbourne venues, country pubs and festival stages with his rich catalogue of songs. The pandemic years saw a return home to Victoria’s rugged coastline where he’d first picked up a guitar, inspired by the songs of Dylan and Cohen. There, he’s built a studio, released a record of lost tracks and started recording a new album set for release in 2025. “A stunning songwriter with a pure and timeless voice.” Blake Scott of Peep Tempel.
