DEAD / K5 / OUR CARLSON

Sat 7th Aug 2pm

DEAD and K5 continue to pick up the pieces of their lost joint 2020 Tour and the time spent waiting has only made them hungrier for the stage. Kyneton - it's your turn! Now with added value in our good mate from Blackwood, Our Carlson.

A DEAD show is something else; It’s Keith Emerson forcing knives into a Hammond B3, it’s Nick Mason talking to his Hi-Hat Cymbals, it’s the moment Lemmy suggested you might want to consider replacing your lawn with astroturf. This is the spirit unleashed on stage. To sum it up in slightly more than one syllable; PHWOAR!!!

K5 are a three-piece band from Castlemaine. They play lo-fi, raw, honest rock like they don’t give a fuck, because they don’t. Zeb from Matrimony plays guitar and sings, Nicole from RRR's Respect the Rock does bass and vocals, and Julia from the library hits the drums. “Soundwise there are elements of bands like Flipper and early Melvins passed through a distinctly Australian underground filter.” – Jem, DEAD

OUR CARLSON feels like Cafe Del Mar meets Toecutter blasting from the back of a VL Commodore in the carpark of Highpoint Shopping Centre circa 2000.

After being diagnosed with epilepsy at age 33, Our Carlson’s frustration with the medical system and the fragility of the human mind has exploded into the most exciting, and upsetting, ambient breaks of 2020 on his debut album “A Bit Much”.

KINO MOTEL & OUR CARLSON

Sat 10th July 8:30pm

KINO MOTEL is the brand new project from Ed Fraser and Rosa Mercedes, with a series of upcoming releases they’ve labelled "grit pop." After meeting in a commune in Berlin, the duo deserted together and hit the road. Following a grimy and particularly sweaty basement karaoke session somewhere in Vietnam in 2019, Ed and Rosa realised they needed to form a band.

OUR CARLSON is from Blackwood, Victoria. He released his debut LP "A Bit Much" in January. His charismatic DIY dance music made a huge impression when he supported UV Race in Beechworth. We can't wait to have him back.

GOOD MORNING

Sat 19th June 8:30pm

Australian duo Good Morning return today with first new music in two years with double release ‘Mollyduker / Keep It’ and announce their Victorian tour dates this June. Listen to 'Mollyduker/Keep It' HERE and see tour dates and details below.

The pastoral, rangy ‘Mollyduker’, sung by Stefan, is a quintessential driving song, its steady, wiry groove hardly letting up over the course of its runtime. The song’s ease belies its tense imagery: drunken spews, held tongues, and anxiety tokens abound. Stefan says: "‘Mollyduker’ was something my Pa called me whenever we’d be hanging out and working on his farm. It’s a reference to me being left-handed, however, I used to take it as somewhat of a dig. The lyrics are a reflection on my relationship with him, as well as the farm itself, which has served as a home to a lot of my family over the years.”

THE LAZY EYES

Sat 22nd May 8:30pm

With their first EP, The Lazy Eyes introduced themselves as members of psych rock’s new vanguard - trained musicians and adherents of rock’s golden era, capable of absorbing these influences into new melodies (Cheesy Love Song) and impulse driven riffs (Tangerine) that remain incredibly of our time.

‘Where’s My Brain???’ is the first taste of their next chapter, a leap further into the driving rhythms of King Gizzard and Black Sabbath. Their most distorted release to date, hypnotic drums and bass that support the adventures of countless polymetric dual guitar solos. Unabashedly unkempt and distilled in its purest form, ‘Where’s My Brain???’ is lifted from their forthcoming second EP. “We always end the live shows with this one, it’s so fun and loose, ” the band shared. “Even if our pedalboards have melted and our amps have caught fire, we always trust this song to bring it home.”

EP2 follows what under traditional circumstances would have been a breakout year for The Lazy Eyes, spent showcasing at a would-be SXSW, The Great Escape and Splendour In The Grass. Instead, the band regrouped to Lindfield Studios, revitalised and focused on bringing more recordings to life with their new lineup. Today, The Lazy Eyes are Harvey Geraghty (vocals, guitar, keyboard), Itay Shachar (vocals, guitar), Leon Karagic (bass) and Noah Martin (drums). At 15 years old, they met at a performing arts high school which provided fertile ground to pursue their creative endeavours.

In the time since, the group have built a cult following with their magnetic live set. Long before their debut single, word of them spread like wildfire. This eventually reached the BBC’s Abbie McCarthy who aired the then unreleased ‘Cheesy Love Song’ during a takeover on Australia’s national youth broadcaster, triple j. In the year that followed, their debut EP saw The Lazy Eyes sell out headline shows, amass a combined 1.5 million streams and receive praise from the BBC’s Matt Wilkinson, Bandcamp, Atwood Magazine, American Songwriter, Monster Children, land at #17 on triple j Unearthed’s Top 50 Most Played Artists of 2020 and many more. If their position in the coveted NME 100 for 2021 is any indication for the year ahead, The Lazy Eyes promise to hold nothing back.

SHAUN KIRK

Sat May 8th 8:30pm

After 12 months away from touring, the longest hiatus of his career, singer-songwriter and global troubadour Shaun Kirk is glad to announce his return to the live stage this coming Autumn.

Kirk was only hours away from boarding an Air Canada flight destined for Toronto back in March when the pandemic erupted across the world, narrowly escaping being left stranded overseas as borders closed and lockdowns were enforced. He says “It’s been such a heavy period for so many people, including many of my

music industry peers. The uncertainty we face moving forward is daunting to say the least; but I’m optimistic that the pandemic has shone light on some of the issues we’ve been dealing with for a long time now, and that the heavy challenges we face are only building us up to bounce back stronger than ever. That’s what this tour is all about!”

Prior to the pandemic, Kirk’s ever evolving career was continuing to prosper, selling out a deluge of headline shows across Australia and New Zealand off the back of his 2018 self titled EP release, as well as signing with major North American agency Paquin, and completing half a Canadian national theatres tour supporting local

powerhouse Matt Andersen.

The ‘Worth the Weight’ tour kicks off in Bendigo on March 20 and will feature performances of new material written during the pandemic, as well as Kirk’s previously released tracks in what 2 time grammy award winner Fantastic Negrito recently described as “one of the best one man shows he’s ever seen”.

Tickets to the shows are extremely limited due to Covid restrictions, on sale now via

www.shaunkirk.com and predicted to sell out quickly!

SLOAN PETERSON

Fri May 7th 8:30pm

A romantic, a dreamer, a poet, & woman of immense ambition and resilience. The moniker borrowed from the sweet-natured, intelligent & spirited deuteragonist in the iconic film Ferris Bueller’s Day Off is the musical identity of Joannah Jackson, a Sydney-based artist blurring raw introspection with the stylistic and performative elements of '60s French rock of the yé-yé era and fresh electronic pop of today.

As a performer, Sloan's biggest strengths is her ability to give so much and yet remain so enigmatic: there is more to this musician than meets the eye, including life experience, determination, and a heart-on-sleeve attitude. "I romanticise everything. I'm a huge sucker for love... And with my music, I know what I want in life. I am ambitious,” she says. “Music is so powerful in that way too. That’s what makes me gravitate towards it: the power that it has to make you think and have these different emotions and feelings and views.” In this artist’s case, sometimes all at once.

“Moon & Back” (released March 5,2020) is the follow up to her critically acclaimed debut on Warner Music Australia “Nightmare”. “The morning of writing this song I had been on the phone to my mum, hung up the phone saying (as I always do) ‘Love you to the moon & back’ before heading into the room. I had a session & I wrote down the line ‘I love you to the moon and back’ and the rest of the lyrics just came so easily. I had a vision of it being a 2000’s r’n’b track like ‘Gwen Stefani’ 'Luxurious’,” Sloan Says about the writing process of ‘Moon & Back’.”

JESS LOCKE

Sat 1st May 8:30pm

Touring is back and Melbourne’s Jess Locke is hitting the road to celebrate the release of her third album, Don’t Ask Yourself Why.

Out on Friday 26 March, the new album is 12 tracks steeped in her trademark style of raw and honest storytelling, with a tendency for melancholy and at times poetic inclinations. The album traverses themes of human behaviour, our egos and self-reflection and was recorded with bandmates James Morris and Chris Rawsthorne, and produced by Rob Muinos (Saskwatch, Julia Jacklin) in a tiny studio in the back of a guitar shop in Collingwood, before it was mastered by John Davis at Metropolis in the UK (Lana Del Ray, The Killers, Gorillaz).
