GEORGIA FIELDS & PHIA: Sky and Sea National Tour with special guest Tiaryn

Two of Melbourne’s brightest independent singer-songwriters are joining forces for their most expansive national tour to date.

Indie-pop chameleon Georgia Fields and live-looping wunderkind Phia present a very special evening of musical dexterity, as they share the stage and each other’s songs – accompanying one another on everything from kalimba to casio, electric guitar to tambourine. Expect luscious harmonies, world-class song-craft, and impromptu audience participation.

Hitting the road through July and August 2017, the Sky & Sea Tour will see these two unique artists lend their distinctive sound to each other’s material, as they reimagine songs from Fields’ Astral Debris and Phia’s The Ocean of Everything albums, both respectively released in 2016.

Support comes from neo-soul powerhouse Tiaryn, who’s latest single Cement Love was heralded by Faster Louder as “a heady slice of alternative pop”.

“Georgia Fields dreams in fantastic Technicolor... Irrepressible pop." – four stars, The Age newspaper

“Bright, catchy-as-hell pop done with absolute surety from Phia." – Double J

BEN SALTER

FRI 9TH JUNE 8:30PM

“I firmly believe Ben Salter to be one of Australia’s best singers, and if I weren’t so goddamn competitive, one of its best songwriters as well.” – Tim Rogers (You Am I, The Temperance Union)

Ben Salter is one of Australia’s most highly regarded performers and songwriters. As well as being a founding member of Giants of Science, The Gin Club and the three-time ARIA-nominated Wilson Pickers, he is an accomplished artist in his own right. His debut solo album The Cat (2011) and follow up The Stars My Destination (2015) have established his penchant for eclectic, esoteric arrangements and sounds that take in elements of rock, pop, jazz, folk, country and beyond, whilst all maintaining a coherence and inimitable melodic style.

Salter has collaborated, written and performed with artists as diverse as Mick Thomas (Weddings, Parties, Anything), Tim Rogers (You Am I, The Temperance Union), Bernard Fanning (Powderfinger), Gareth Liddiard (The Drones) and Marlon Williams, to name a few. He has toured with acts such as Cat Power, J Mascis, Gareth Liddiard, Counting Crows, Marlon Williams and most recently Built To Spill.

Salter continues to perform relentlessly across Australia and the world, both solo and with his band, and his captivating live performances have become quasi-legendary.

MIKE NOGA

Fri 26th May 8:30pm

Mike Noga is the former drummer for one of Australia's most critically acclaimed band The Drones. He's fronted numerous outfits of his own and has released two much lauded solo albums in 2012's 'The Balladeer Hunter' and 2010's 'Folk Songs'. Noga has carved a huge name for himself in the Australian music scene. From the lyrical and sonic assault of three time nominated and one time winners of the Australian Music Prize, The Drones, to the stripped back folk-rock of his previous solo efforts, Noga is one of the most in demand musicians in Australia. Critics declared his last album The Balladeer Hunter "an Australian classic" and Noga "one of Australia's most talented new singer-songwriters... a new Paul Kelly or Tim Rogers". Noga has shared the stage with numerous high profile acts both in Australia and abroad including Band of Horses and Mark Lanegan, and has just returned from a huge tour of the UK, Europe and Australia opening for Minesotta's legendary art-rockers, 'LOW'.

After blowing audiences away at the Kyneton Music Festival last year, former Drones drummer and acclaimed singer-songwriter Mike Noga is returning to Kyneton, sans band, for a special intimate performance at Major Tom's. Mike will be presenting songs from his critical lauded concept album 'KING'  (produced by Paul Dempsey and featuring actor Noah Taylor as 'The Narrator') as well as delving into his back catalogue.
